When I first saw this type of Twickenham stichery - I thought it was a pen & ink drawng because it was so fine, the silk thread is as fine as hair.  It is also historically accurate with the building and layout as accurate as a map.

The Twickenham area was like Newport - it was a place where the very wealthy from London went up the Thames and built large houses on the river to “get away”.  It was only 11 miles up river - a leisurely day trip.
