Wonderful small pair of Rhode Island bell-metal penny-foot andirons

with ball finials and fitted with matching log stops.

All properly cast in halves.

These are quite rare - most American andirons (95%) are early 19th century.

These are 18th century.  

After the Revolution when we were able to acquire raw materials to have our own brass forges.

Not under the English thumb to purchase only finished products.
