George II Style Gilded Oval Mirror

No. R14624

George II style Giltwood oval mirror (this type of mirror was made well up into the 19th century in exactly the same way as the late 18th century).

The crest is a neoclassical urn issuing swags held by ho-ho birds; the vine (rinceaux) decoration continues down each side to plateaus fitted with a pair of branches and two candle arms.

This mirror retains the original gold leaf with contrasting mat and shiny, which makes the surface twinkle.

In superb original condition.
