17th Century 3 Leg Bronze Cauldron by Thomas Sturton

No. R16772

17th century 3 leg bronze cauldron signed by Thomas Sturton 1st  (1630 - 1658) with old repair (done with rolled brass rivets which is a 17th century repair - these bronze vessels were quite expensive so a casting flaw resulting in a thin wall would be fixed).

This cauldron displays (better than most) the core casting pins that kept the inner and outer molds apart (17 century - and earlier have to have these visible or it ain’t early).   These core pins are visible in a number of the photos.

It has a chip in the rim.
